Transform Comparison to Growth!

Transform Comparison to Growth!

Actionable insights on how to stop comparing yourself to others.

Imagine this- You are randomly scrolling social media, and suddenly you find your classmates, who cleared the exams, are in the dream collages and are living a life which seems to be “perfect”.
Then suddenly you start the comparison by thinking why is that you work so hard and not get the results, which others get effortlessly. Everyone has everything figured out but you feel stuck.

It is not only seen that students compare themselves to others but also teachers compare students, and such social comparison in school harms the mental health of the student to a great extent, trapping one in a cycle of self-doubt.
A reason to this is usually-
“You don’t want what others have, you just want the happiness you believe they possess.”
So the question is – How to stop comparing yourself to others and escape the boundaries set by everyone, embracing the uniqueness? Join us reveling the secret to get out from the ‘labyrinth of comparison’.

PRACTICE SELF-AWARENESS
Reflect upon the fact that how hard you work and each individual has his own journey. Every individual has its own unique identity, So, instead of trying to get what someone else has got, jut try to build upon your strengths. Eventually you will achieve what you dream for, or sometimes things even turn out better!
  • Take a pen and paper, and write down all your strengths and everything you have achieved till now and be proud of yourself.
SET GOALS
Always aim to be better than who you were yesterday. Set goals for yourself and work on them everyday. Don’t let any external source or society validate your progress. Achieving your own personalized goals gives you a sense of purpose and you tend to be happier evaluating your progress each day.
  • Set at least 3 goals a day that match your short- term and long-term objectives and work on them. Track on them and see how many of them are you able to complete everyday.
CHANNELIZE
Instead of dwelling in self-pity, try to channelize all the emotions to work. Put more efforts than yesterday and motivate yourself with the fact that you need to achieve that particular thing (marks or college or job). Use that energy to empower you.
ACCOMPANY POSITIVE MINDSETS
Surround yourself with people who motivate you, inspire you and always see the good in you. Cultivate a growth and a positive mindset. Ask people to support you and don’t get backed out if someone achieves something faster than you. Acknowledge that everything happens with time.
  • Make friends who support you and meet them regularly. Talk to them on how you feel about things and engage in some meaningful conversations. Don’t hesitate to reach out for help if you are struggling with certain emotions.
APPRECIATE
Being grateful of whatever you have, will remind you how abundant your life already is. And such clear mindset will help you see more opportunities that are your way. Even the failures you get teach you something, which further paves the way to your success.
  • Start journaling, and write at least three things every day that happened to you, which you are grateful for (these can be really small things like ‘a good mood’). Practicing this will help you develop a habit of focusing on the positives of your life.
A constant effort can help you identify how unique you are and always remember
YOUR only competition is YOU
